This website, created for the Honors class at Chapman University titled Disney: Gender, Race, Religion, is mainly divided into two parts:

  1. An analysis of 16 classic villains, 8 male and 8 female from feature-length animated Disney film
  2. Short essays on certain topics related to the villains based on observed trends and social commentary

Throughout the course of reading the material, I hope to demonstrate that the Disney villains and villainesses tend to represent what is outside of the norm. Disney is teaching that different is evil, even though different means being confidently both masculine and feminine, being over or underweight, having a different skin color, or not being young.

And with that, it’s time to examine what exactly is the anatomy of a Disney villain!
